Hot Hot Hot

That's what it's been here! We have been staying busy and trying to keep cool. Last weekend, Gracie went to Birmingham to spend the weekend with MeMe and Chief. They kept her on the go by going swimming, playing at the park, going out to eat and playing with the dollhouse.

Alan and I got to enjoy a dinner out at PHUKET in the providence area. We highly recommend it if you enjoy Thai food. Alan loved the sushi and sashimi and said it was the better than the other Thai places in Huntsville.

Gracie had her last day of summer school this week. We've had some playdates and still working on her potty training. She is trained when she wants to be. She likes things her way and doing things when she feels like it - spoiled? maybe just a little!

Mallary will be 5 months tomorrow so I'll do her write up and all her changes later with her 5 month post.

Congrats to my dear friend Mandy who was engaged last week!!! I'm looking forward to being a part of her wedding and celebrating with her!

I've been lucky to celebrate several friends' baby showers. There are several little boys on the way! I can't believe how many boys are on the way...where are all the girls?!?!?!

August is going to be busy, busy, busy. We already have several birthday parties on the calendar and we are looking forward to celebrating with all of our friends and nieces! We are also anxiously awaiting the arrival of Baby Burns. Not to mention, Gracie will start 3 day school, Mallary will start music and we are planning on signing up for some other activities as Gracie seems to have endless energy!

Here are just a few pics from last week...Mallary gets so excited when I go in her room to pick her up out of bed, she can't stand it. She kicks, "talks", laughs. I tried to capture it, but pictures don't do the experience justice. I LOVE IT! Gracie thought she needed to be in the bed with Mallary too so I let her climb in for a minute. Mallary loves her sister!

Woo Hoo , mom's hereI'm breaking out of this bed!
Mallary: hmmmm....I'm not sure I like this girl in my bed with me.
And why is she wearing sunglasses at night?

New Toys

WE LOVE PLAY DOH!!!! Gracie has been introduced to it and has so much fun mushing all the colors together. We had a fun time rolling it out and cutting out shapes. I have to say I really love playing with it too. I set Gracie up just like my Grandma used to set me up at her house: play-doh on a piece of wax paper with a rolling pin and cookie cutters.

Mallary loves being in her exersaucer! She is enjoying this new form of entertainment!

Would you do it?

I wouldn't for a #1 combo, but just wondering who does? I do think it would be funny to take Gracie and have her look at people dressed up like cows and hear her comments b/c I know there are people out there that will do it for free food.

Side note: This is in no way bashing Chick Fil A. I really love their Chicken Salad sandwich. I've just seen several advertisements and heard of them doing it in the past and just wondered who does this.

I HATE CEREAL!!!!

Seriously Mom, I really, really HATE cereal. I mean how many days are you going to continue this. I don't like it. It tastes bad and it makes me messy. I didn't like it when you gave it to me for dinner the 1st time, when you tried to make me eat it in the mornings I really hated it and tonight was the final straw. How can I make you understand that I do not want to eat it AT ALL. In case you didn't notice, I'm sweet and happy before you give me that cereal and ecstatic when you take it away. Please don't give me anymore.
Love,
Mal Mal

Gracie: Mommy, I wanna be a giraffe.
Mommy: A giraffe, why?
Gracie: So I can pick all the red and green apples in the trees

4 Month Stats

We are so thankful that Mallary received a well baby report yesterday. Our Dr. said that she looked great and was very healthy. She weighed 14 lbs and 13 oz. I don't believe her height measurement - 26.5 inches...which is well beyond the 95th percentile. She was a little wiggly and mad when they took that measurement so I don't think it's truly accurate. She doesn't appear that long at all. Gracie was 14.15 and 25 and 5/8's at this age.

Anyways, the fun news was that we get to begin Stage 1 foods. We started with rice cereal last night mixed with a little applesauce. She really didn't seem to enjoy it. I know that will change once she gets used to it. By the time we were done she seemed pretty mad at me!

I'm such a big girl!

Ok, I'm ready....

First Bite

No More! It's Yucky!

Blah, get this stuff off me!
All clean and happy. Bottle, please.

This morning's attempt to resulted in a crying fit, thumb sucking with mouthful of cereal and then rubbing the messy hand all over her face and hair and then a bottle and a happy baby.

Weekend Pictures

Pictures from Sunday Morning.

We went to the air show in Huntsville just as the tragic storms were hitting. We were fortunate to still be in our car and Gracie was super disappointed not to see the planes. At the time, we didn't realize what had happened. We had to use an ice cream bribe to ease Gracie's disappointment (read: extreme whining that will drive you nuts!)

I think she's cured!

We also celebrated cousin Jana's 5th Birthday in Bham but I forgot my camera for it and I celebrated with my girls at Andi's white trash party, which was freaking hilarious to see the "outfits" everyone came up with! I loved it! As promised, no pictures will be shared on the internet...

We are planning a fun weekend of BBQing, swimming and fireworks to celebrate our wonderful country this week. Gracie brought home the most stunning picture of glitter fireworks from school yesterday and has told us many times it's for celebrating 4th of July!
