Mandy's Wedding

This weekend my dear friend Mandy got married! The wedding took place at her parents house on Logan Martin Lake in Childersburg. It was simply beautiful! And while it appeared the weather might not cooperate - it was a beautiful day, a lovely night and the rain tornadoes skipped over us that night! They were married on a beautiful gazebo with white flowers and greenery and it was just stunning. The tent was amazing and looked so grand! We jammed out to The Undergrounders well into the night and none of us have lost our touch on the dance floor. The Governor of Alabama was in attendance which was pretty cool. I got to see lots of girls I haven't seen in awhile and spend lots of quality time with my nearest and dearest ones. I'll add some more pictures as some more friends share but here are a few that I have already. I had an absolute blast this weekend

Last Weekend

Last Saturday we had a fun family outing. We went to the Bankhead Nat'l Forest Area about 45 minutes from our house. We had a picnic, took a little hike to a waterfall and enjoyed the outdoors.
That night Gracie was already for camping...so Alan let her "practice camp" in the backyard complete with roasting hot dogs and making s'mores. She fell asleep in the tent and was moved back inside.

Fun Day!

Last week was spring break for Gracie. She missed her usual activities (and so did I). We were very happy to resume our normal schedule yesterday.

We had some extra playdates this week including a trip to the park for play and a picnic with Sadie and Sawyer:

(a lady bug)

We stopped off for some Ice Cream. Gracie immediately picked this lovely array red, bright blue and yellow "Krazy Kolors" which was known as "Superman" when I was younger. Why is it that children L-O-V-E that "flavor"? (a term I use loosely b/c it is not flavors just dyed vanilla). Alan and I took his niece Harrison for ice cream when she was 3 or 4 and she immediately picked Superman as well. Alan and I still laugh about him asking her what flavor it tasted like and her response..."It tastes like good". And it must b/c this would be the face of a little girl who thoroughly enjoyed her Krazy Kolors with sprinkles and a cherry.

and don't feel bad for Mallary - she got in on the ice cream action as well and shared my frozen yogurt.

We have a walker...

Mallary, Wednesday night I was trying to get you and Gracie rounded up for baths. You were sitting next to Daddy on the kitchen floor while he was on the computer. I started calling for you and Gracie to come on. Neither of you were overly motivated to listen to me so I started saying "March, March, March" and Gracie comes marching in. I said come on Mallary so you stood up on your own and were just standing there (something you have accomplished in the last week). At this point I am thinking to myself - Ha Ha how funny would it be if she just marched into the dining room to where we were - laughing to myself.

The next thing we know - you took off - a good 4 or 5 steps before you realized what was going on. You stopped, assumed the crawling position and zoomed over to us. Mommy, Daddy and Gracie never cheered and clapped so loud for you in our lives. It was amazing that we were all there to witness your first steps. We were so excited for you.

You have taken a few more steps like that here and there, but are such a champion crawler and climber that you are content zooming around on the floor for now.

Catching Up

Ok, before the month gets too far away - let's review a little more.

Gracie had her 1st visit to Dr. Alicia. We affectionately named her that as we know Alicia from our church, however she is Dr. Nails to others looking for a friendly dentist in Decatur.

Gracie had no trouble climbing up in the chair and letting the hygienist do her thing. In fact, Gracie requested they brush her teeth again. They happily obliged! She left with a good report of no cavities, several toys from the treasure tower, a certificate, a "purse" with toothbrush and toothpaste.

Here she is showing her pretty teeth and her certificate

Next Mallary had her 1 year check up. I guess since we have been to a dr. about once a week for months I let this one slip by. However, she did do great and our Dr. said she was well and looking great. She weighed in at a little over 20 lbs. and 30 inches long.

Here she is with her baby. She loves baby.
Gracie visited the pottery lady last week at Memi's. It's a cute afternoon for the children. They paint pottery, hear stories and do a craft. Gracie was more than happy to talk about it for a long time and we will definitely go back. This months theme was Easter and this is what I picked up when it was over:

I am working on 2 fundraisers for local organizations:

An American Girl Fashion Show presented by Junior League of Morgan County benefitting a playground for all children at Delano Park

and

Bag Lady Brunch to benefit Carnegie Visual Arts Center

Interested in either? Click on them and check them out. Both very worthy organizations!

Our Little Farmer!

That's what Gracie said she was today! We are trying to make the most of this most glorious weekend b/c we all know weather in Alabama gives you beautiful sunny early spring days and cold snaps with frost the next.

We went to Lowe's to get some supplies to start working on the yard and Alan, Gracie and I were all into some seeds to grow some veggies again this spring/summer. Gracie had to have the strawberry plant (who could blame her - they looked delicious on the package). Alan picked up his normal supply of pepper seeds - jalapenos, cayenne's and something else. We always have luck with those. I opted for summer squash, carrots, beets, onions and red bell peppers. We'll see - I'm sure the squash will be fine, we've done it before. The rest will be questionable.

While we were planting this little silly was having the most fun in her swing! We all took turns giving her a push that would keep her content and laughing!

1 year old Pictures

The Good Patient!

The little patient waiting for her turn

Mallary did a fantastic job during her surgery this morning. She was a good little patient and all the nurses commented on how all babies should be just like her. The tubes went it just fine, the yucky fluid is gone and after a long nap this morning, she was up to her usual tricks! No slowing that baby down. Thanks for everyone who checked in on her and for MeMe who came up to spend the night and watch Gracie for us.

Seriously - you are taking pictures???

All better!

Prayers for Mallary

Mallary is having surgery to put tubes in on Monday morning. Please say a little prayer for her that the procedure goes as planned and she has no complications.

We had a fabulous Birthday celebration and we will share tomorrow hopefully!
