A House Divided...

It's a start of a new season here in the south. Nope, fall won't be here for awhile. It's FOOTBALL SEASON!!! Now, here in the McRee house, it is double the excitement. I come from an Alabama Family, I am a graduate of the University of Alabama and I proudly spent 3 years in the press box playing hostess to countless members of the media, football celebrities, bowl game reps, coaches and other special guests! Alan on the other hand is an Auburn Tiger. He has a brother who played for Auburn and he attended school there until he decided he missed me too much while I was in Tuscaloosa. Now, what do you do about that? One of you must convert right? How do you make a mixed marriage work? Do you speak during football season? Most importantly - how do you raise your children? Ha Ha Ha... Actually we are very kind to each other for the most part and cheer for each others team (except for that certain Saturday in November) It doubles the fun and excitement of game day and well for Gracie and Mallary...

It's a Win-Win for me! I get to buy twice the clothes and teach them Roll Tide Roll!!!
(they also know War Eagle).

If you are reading this on Friday check back tomorrow for pics of the girl's in their outfits!

6 months old!!!

Oh my goodness, Mallary you are 1/2 year old today! How can that be?! You have decided that you do in fact like cereal and food. You try to feed yourself already. I can tell that you don't like some foods as well as others and sweet potatoes and applesauce are the clear leaders! You can sit up for a little bit at a time with mommy's hand close by to catch you when you fall over. You still sleep through the night and never, ever wake up until morning! You are wild in your sleep though, because you some how kick out of your positioner, get it to the end of the bed and some mornings i find you on your tummy facing the opposite direction! I never hear you do all that even with the monitor right by my ear at night. Thumb sucking seems to be fading, however I still see it in there once in awhile. You love blankies and playing peek a boo! You are so sweet and laugh and play. You love toys and especially this little pink and white rattle!

6 months stats:

weight 16lbs. 11 oz (45th percentile)
height 27 inches (90th percentile)

TuTu Cute!!!

Today was the 1st day of ballet. However, due to the small size of the class, Gracie will be graduating to the 3 year old class next week and go ahead and start tap as well. She was so excited about starting her class today and asked me a zillion times if it was time to go. She melted my heart in her little leotard, tights and ballet shoes. I felt like it was just yesterday that I was doing my plies and shuffle steps.

after class...she had stickers and a chocolate treat and a big smile!

Hannah What?

Saturday Mom, Elaine, and I took the girls to the Galleria for some shopping. When we arrived at Macy's we were in the I N C area and Gracie looks up at the trendy dressed mannequins and starts yelling Hannah Montana, Hannah Montana. I was like - What? What did you say? Who is that? (I know who it is, but wondered how she did) She said HANNAH MONTANA

Now, we have never watched HM, We listen to children's CDs in the car. So how did this child even know who HM was? It was hilarious.

Just now, a commercial comes on and before it says her name Gracie is yelling Hannah Montana Mommy and sure enough it is an ad for HM CD/DVD and we weren't even on the Disney Channel.

So Proud

When Gracie's teacher put her in the car today she said Gracie was the only one in class to remember the month it was. I was so proud of her. Of course she is the smartest in the class ; )

Oh by the way....it's Faugust...

I said that's right...August with a hint of fall coming up!

1st Day of School

Ready for School!!!

My sweet little girl went back to school today! She was all smiles last night talking about going to school. She modeled her new back to school dress for Da Da and we got her school bag packed. This morning she hopped right out of bed when I went to wake her up, which is not usual for her! She went right into her class and was happy to see her teachers and friends. I've been counting down the days for her to return but then of course I was a little sad this morning when I hugged her goodbye. She must have had a big day - she had paint up to her elbows and told me all about her friends.
She was so sweet and wanted Mallary in her picture.

So excited to be back - she loves puzzles!!

What a FABULOUS weekend! (Last Weekend)

We lucked out and got a break from the hot temps this weekend and took full advantage of the beautiful weather. Saturday we got ready and headed to the park for a picnic by the river. We played Frisbee and chilled out on our blanket and let Mallary squirm around and enjoyed the boats driving by. We played tag with Gracie and ran around for hours. We also played on the playground and came home and made pink cupcakes. Sunday we went to church and out to lunch and then rested up for a birthday party for our friends' Splish Splash Party! So much fun! Gracie crashed at 6:45 tonight and I didn't bother trying to wake her up. I know she was worn out!
****Tuesday**** I was talking to Alan who was out in the garage around 10:00 on Sunday night and telling him I was going to get in bed when I hear "hey mommy" OH NO - she just took at 3 hour nap and doesn't sleep much as it is. She and I finally went to be around 12:30...I learned my lesson - no bed time before 8 for Gracie.
****Friday at 9:30p.m.****Just now finding time to get the pictures added to post Oh Well, not sure what happened Tuesday night that I didn't finish. Lots of exciting things going on this weekend and week.

How cute is this group?!

Gracie and her friend Abby....

{Cute story today was meet the teacher day at school and sadly Abby and Gracie are split up this year, but they visited each others classroom and will play together at other times. Abby gave Gracie a hug when we were leaving and then we turned to leave and Gracie turns back and says "what about my kiss!" It was funny, but back to last weekend}

CANDY!!!

"Rockstar" is all I have to say about this!
P.S. Still no Baby Burns. If I know how things usually work out for me, he will be born after the 24th when I get back home from Bham after the 2nd trip there in 2 weeks.

P.S.S The Olympics are rocking my world this year!!! I don't remember being this into the Olympics since 1996 Girls Gymnastics and that was all I cared about. I can't get enough of them this year. What about you???

Big Girl Haircut

Sniff, Sniff...My Gracie got her 1st "real" haircut. Alan and I have cut it here and there b/c it was so long and she was so young, but we decided she was enough of a "big girl" to go to a real place. So today was the day. We met Da Da at work and had a lunch date and then onto Da Da's Barber Shop for their haircuts. The girls there were so sweet and egged her on about how gorgeous and glamorous she was (We love Fancy Nancy and her vocabulary book). Gracie sat up there like such a big girl while she cut away. She was all smiles when she was done and we went to show off at Alan's office.

This is what happens...

when I try to do other things around our house, such as put clean sheets on our bed, and leave both girls playing. I did not leave them playing together. I left Gracie and her watercolors to create some masterpieces in the kitchen and Mallary chillin in her bouncer seat. This is the masterpiece I came to find:

Pool Time

We spent Sunday afternoon at the pool and decided Mallary was old enough to get in and play instead of just dunking her feet. Oh boy, let me tell you she loved it more than anything she has done in the past 5 months of her life. Those little legs just kicked and she laughed. She didn't like her "boat" that much and just enjoyed me holding her and swimming her around!
