Happy Halloween!

It is finally time for Trick or Treat.  The girls looked so cute in their costumes - Gracie was Cleopatra and Mallary was a Witch.  We started the day off with a Halloween Party at Mallary's school and Pumpkin day at Gracie's school.  We went to our friends' annual Halloween Party which the girls love!  Then it was time to trick or treat with both Collins families and then dinner afterwards.  The weather was absolutely perfect and the girls got lots of candy!!

Fall Treats

We made several fall treats (courtesy of pinterest) and thought I would share what we made.

I don't have a real recipe of the muffins - but so simple!  A can of pumpkin and a cake mix.  That's it!!  Just mix together, put in a muffin pan, bake 15-20 minutes.  I glazed mine with a little powdered sugar, cinnamon and milk to make the desired consistency.

Next the girls and I made spooky s'mores to share with all their friends at school.

It was a ghost peep, some graham cracker squares and a mini hershey bar.  I thought they were so cute!

Next we did cards to go along with them

We just did handprints on black paper to look like ghotsts.  We used a sharpie to make the eyes  mouth.

And finally - I made crockpot apple butter.  I have to say it is the most delicious apple butter.  I love it!!

Crockpot Apple Butter:
18 peeled and chopped apples - I used 3 different kinds.
1 c. Sugar
1 1/2 c. Brown sugar
2 T. Cinnamon
1/4 t. ground cloves
1/2 t. nutmeg
1/2 t. salt

Cook on high for 2 hours and then low for 2 hours.  Pour into blender and process until smooth.
We canned ours.

Pumpkin Carving

The girls and Alan did their annual pumpkin carving the night before Halloween.  They chose a combo of creepy and scary.  I personally prefer a traditional jack o lantern, but I was out voted.  {sigh}.

No Training Wheels

Gracie has been working on riding her bike without training wheels for a couple of weeks.  Today she wanted another go at it and got it!  Before we knew it she was off and going down the street.  She is overly cautious of other cars (which we are thankful for) and needs a little work on steering and turning but for the most part she has it down!  So much fun!!

Bootanica

We are trying to take advantage of our Huntsville Botanical Gardens pass so we went to their fall festival "Bootanica"  We were lucky to have our friends Abby and Hudson (Miss Ashley too!) join us for the fun.  The kids played fall festival games, made crafts, listened to stories, got some candy and had pizza for lunch.  Great afternoon of fun.

Fall Festival

Mallary had her annual school fall festival complete with lots of games, popcorn sundaes, and a hayride.  Unfortunately Gracie was running a fever during the night and when she woke up Friday so she had to miss hers at school on the same day.  As a consulation, she got to tag along with me and hang out at Mallary's.
