Three Months Old!

My sweet Mallary, where has the time gone????? You have now been with us for 3 months but it feels like only 3 days. Please hit stop on the clock please. You get sweeter and funnier every day. You LOVE to smile! Anytime we talk or play with you, you just smile and try to talk to us. You are eating 6 oz every couple of hours and sleeping 6-7 hours at a stretch now - usually waking up around 4:30 am. (At this point I'd like to give a little Shout Out to Nick at Nite - if not for your Cosby show and Roseanne reruns at 4:30 am I would have nothing to keep me awake to take care of my child as 99% of TV programming at that hour is paid programs.)

You are growing like a weed and have outgrown most 3 months sized clothes and we are already moving on to Size 2 diapers when our last package of 1's runs out this week. You still love your swing and your bath.

I usually like to take the "birthday" pics in a cute outfit, but since it's a hot day and we're headed to the country club - the bathing suit pics were perfect for today!

Mommy's Fav

I like this one b/c it shows your new obsession with trying to get your toes. You are always trying to get them you just don't know you aren't big enough yet. But don't you worry you will have those feet in your mouth soon enough.
One without the hat b/c you really didn't like it! You really hated it at the pool! Thank goodness you are not a baldy or your little head would get too much sun!

Fun Weekend!

Friday night we went to a festival, Saturday we played all day, Sunday we went to church and swam and today we spent the day at the pool and BBQ'd for dinner!!

Sisters!

Major Update!!

I have lots to write about but I'm not really feeling like blogging for some reason, maybe b/c I feel I have too much to catch up on or what.

We went to the beach for a week last week, the pool was hit - the ocean was not. The weather was nice.

We have a "new" swingset and Gracie was more excited about this than Santa Claus by far. Alan's boss's children have outgrown it, so it has a new home!

I had a girl's night on Monday to the cool new theater at Bridgestreet in Huntsville. It's called Monaco pictures and there is a cool little restaurant in there, VIP seating in the balcony with cushy reclining rocking seats, and bars upstairs for VIP seaters. I didn't have a drink during the movie, but my 2 happy hour margaritas before hand hit the spot along with all the tasty appetizers we split! We saw "What happens in Vegas". It was cute and funny!

This weekend we have lots of fun planned! It's the hot air balloon festival here, we have a pool membership this summer and pool opens up tomorrow

School's out for summer!

Today was Gracie's last day of school. I was somewhat sad b/c I realized how fast this school year has passed and feel like it was just yesterday that she was getting dropped off for her 1st day. I would say that she had a very successful year! She seems smarter than ever knowing how to count to 20, singing lots and lots of songs and recognizing all her numbers (1-10), colors and letters. Our walls were constantly filled with beautiful pictures she made for us and we occasionally got a laugh at her getting in trouble at school. For example, today's timeout was for spitting - I know, gross. When I asked the teacher about it even she couldn't keep a straight face. Apparently Gracie was standing in a chair drooling/spitting on the floor. When the teacher told her to stop that, Gracie replied, "But the spit is in my mouth" and the teacher told well she just needs to swallow it. When I asked her about it she said, "well I spit b/c i don't want the spit in my mouth."

Monday night was also Gracie's "Spring Show." All the children were decked out in their red, blue, yellow and green for a special concert for the mom's and dad's. We dropped Gracie off in her classroom at 6:00 and went off to get our seats. I wanted to be as close as possible for the diva's performance (Remember this). They brought the kids out and put the toddler class directly on stage. They were standing there for a minute when Gracie's hand goes towards her face/nose. Alan is saying under his breath, "don't pick your nose, don't be that child". Luckily she was quickly distracted by all the balloons They started off with Hello Everybody with all sorts of little motions including hip shaking which Gracie had down perfect. It was pretty funny. She spotted us and said I see my mommy and daddy and kept on singing. Next was the anticipated Twinkle Twinkle , she did very well. I was quite proud of my little star!!! The spring show pics didn't turn out too well, but I have ordered the DVD of the performance so we will have a treasure forever!

You're Kidding Me....

I debated on sharing this story b/c it shows flaws in my parenting skills...(Ha Ha, I'm kidding - I by no means think that I am perfect). I really debated b/c it involves a "bad" word, but I have decided that it is much too funny

Several weeks ago (think new baby, toddler, readapting to less sleep, etc.) I was getting Gracie her "choco-latte" (chocolate milk) for bed time. Well somehow I spilled a huge cup of chocolate milk everywhere and I mean everywhere. Being the potty mouth that I am I said "Oh S*it". Gracie immediately repeated my phrase. Quick thinker that I am - I ignored the fact that she had just said it and she repeated it another time or two but quickly went on her way and the phrase was never uttered again. I'm thinking I'm so smart, knowing that if I had told her not to say this, I'd be hearing it daily and being grateful I didn't say anything worse than that.

Fast forward to last week...I wanted to go to a local farm and pick strawberries. Strawberries are Gracie's favorite fruit and I thought she would get a kick out of seeing them on a farm and picking her own. We get loaded up and head off to the farm. Gracie asks me where are we going and I tell her "We are going to a farm to get lots of strawberries" I flip my rearview mirror so I can see her reaction to this new adventure and she so sweetly replies:

"Oh S*it (while slapping her forehead with the palm of her hand), You're kidding me".

I laughed so hard, I thought I was going to have to pull over to get control of myself.

And, yes, I was kidding her b/c when we got to the farm, there were no strawberries. They decided not to plant them this year. We'll go back in June for blueberries.

Yea to Me!

My dessert placed 8th overall in this weekend's Whistle Stop Festival BBQ Competition!!!! One judge even gave me a perfect score! I feel very proud of myself. The boys, well there was definite improvement from the last competition, but still a ways to go. At least they had fun and stayed dry last night. I will post pics later and full recap of competition on their page and the recipe for my dessert on my recipe page.

Happy Weekend!

Let me try Mommy!

Well since I can't seem to get Mallary's hair to lay down she thought she'd give it a try!
