One more birthday celebration

This year we have had a crazy November/December and trying to fit in a birthday party just wasn't in the works for this year.  We let Gracie have 1 friend and Mallary to do a fun play day out on the town what she wanted to do.   She opted for manicures and lunch at Chick fil a with ice cream and play time and then have Abby come over and play for the afternoon.  They had such a fun afternoon together!

The Tooth Fairy!

After Gracie's day at her Thanksgiving feast - she really kept wiggling her loose tooth.  Finally she got brave enough to let her Daddy pull it out for her!  She was so excited and that night she put her little tooth under her pillow for the tooth fairy.  Lucky her the Tooth Fairy came and left her $10 and a chocolate gold coin.

A few days later she lost the other bottom tooth.  This time she wrote the tooth fairy a note asking for 2 gold coins.  We thought she really wanted 2 candies and didn't question it.  The next morning when she woke up - she immediately came out to the living room and said "Look Mallary the tooth fairy brought us each a gold coin."  LOVE!!!  What a sweet sister and just about made this mama cry.

The Thanksgiving Feast

The Kindergarten classes celebrated Thanksgiving with a delicious feast of popcorn chicken, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, biscuits and Turkey cookies.  Gracie's class were the pilgrims and the other class were the Indians.  After their delicious feast they rotated through Thanksgiving stations of projects and games.  Afterwards they read a story and each time they said the Pilgrim Ladies Gracie and the girls would yell "Mercy Me".   What a fun day at her school!

Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving...

and seriously the CUTEST play ever!  We have had our lines for weeks and practiced them so much that even Mallary knew them.  Gracie was assigned the part "Turkey #2".  She looked so cute dressed up like the Turkey.  I loved it!

The play is about some students who go to Farmer Mack Nugget's Turkey Farm and while they are there they spot the Axe and learn the Turkey's fate on Thanksgiving Eve.  The students rescue the Turkeys and they all have a Happy Thanksgiving : )

Also as part of Turkey week - Gracie had her first real homework assignment.  She got a blank turkey and had to disguise it so no one could tell it was a turkey.  We went through many options and decided on...
a sparkly ballerina complete with a feather tutu and headdress!

Celebrating Gracie's Day

For Gracie's birthday - she isn't a cake fan so we opted to make peace sign cookies for her class since she thinks peace signs are the.coolest.things.ever!  She picked out the colors for the cookies and decided who should have them - ha!  We also took ice cream to go with them.  She also got 6 birthday spankings from Mrs. Lindsay with the silly hand paddle.

That night she got some presents from mommy and daddy and we went to Huntsville for her main present - a new bike!  She picked out a barbie bike in hot pink and black and a new cool helmet.  We ate dinner at Red Robin and had a great night. (and no I have no pics of the bike b/c it was dark and rainy by the time we got home and it was pretty late).

Happy Birthday 6th Gracie

I'm having an incredibly hard time believing my Gracie girl is 6 years old today and how fast have 6 years passed us by.  And what 6 years have done to my sweet little baby - she is such a big girl now and sometimes I forget that she is ONLY 6 and not older.  Gracie is such a unique soul.  I'm always sure shes is going to pick the different toy, restaurant, treat, etc. when she finally decides.  She has inherited her mama's indecisiveness.   She also thinks she is so grown up.  She is also the best big sister.  She watches out for Mallary and they play together so well.  I love that they are such good friends.

Her bottom teeth are way wiggly and it's only a matter of days before it becomes a toothless grin.  We are anxiously awaiting the tooth fairy!

She is so smart...I know every parent says that, but she really is.  Kindergarten is going fabulous and we love our school, teacher and classmates. She is reading up a storm, math, writing, science - you name it she's working on it and getting better each day.  She is getting ready to take part in her 1st play this week too.

Her favorite foods include pizza, McDonald's happy meals, broccoli cheese soup with bread, and steak.  Candy and Ice cream are her favorite sweet treats.  She also requested NO cake for her birthday this year.    She still loves her chocolate milk!  She has had a "brown drink" {sodas on rare occasion} and thinks that is pretty cool.

She loves dance and has added jazz to her list this year.  She is perfecting lots of acro moves, learning harder tap steps, ballet is more advanced too!  She also loves church on Wednesday and Sunday nights now that she can go off and be with the older kids.

There are no more pastels in her clothing.  Only hot pink, turquoise, orange, BLACK!  She is quick to tell you her favorite colors are orange, blue, black and white. She is the biggest Auburn fan I know!  She will watch a game and cheer for Auburn.  She also knows when Alabama isn't doing so hot when I get mad and will cheer for whoever they are playing I think just to get under my skin. (ha ha!)

She loves her American Girl Doll and accessories, arts and crafts and creating, riding her bike, barbies, nail polish/beauty salon.  Those are her most favorite activities for playing.  I always know when they have their choice of centers at school she is most likely to pick the art station.

So there my sweet, sweet girl is an update on your precious, precious life.   You can not imagine how much we love you and how special you are to us.  I am thankful every single day of my life that you are my special daughter and how blessed we are to get to have you as part of our lives.  You make every single day better for us and make me a better person.

Celebrations

We started off by celebrating Gracie's Birthday with Meme and Chief the weekend before Gracie's birthday.  She picked to have lunch at Olive Garden and then we went back to their house for presents!  Gracie got her jazz shoes, acro costume, monster high doll, sorry and a book about the human body (she picked it out!).
Aunt Elaine also got her some stuff for Julie - including a tape recorder, a record player that plays songs from the 70's (that the girls refer to as a CD player - ha!).

That night - Alan and I went to Melissa Howell's wedding and reception.  It's crazy when the younger siblings of your best friends get married.  We had a great time and everything was beautiful.  We especially loved our view atop Red Mountain at The Club overlooking the city.  It was a great night for being out on the patio.   She used the same cake lady that I had and they tasted just like mine - and I won't lie to this day unless Barb makes the cake - I've never had better cakes than what was served at mine and Elaine's weddings.  Yum!
