Terrible Blogger

I know, I've been terrible. Truthfully we're busy with alot of the same old stuff so no need to repeat blogs. We're wrapping up the school year and trying to catch up on some outside play time that has been much need since we had some much rain at the beginning of the month.

We are also busy with some big news but we'll keep you guessing for now if you don't know what we're up too and post some more next week on that subject so keep checking back. (don't you just love teasers...)

We are so enjoying the new "playground for all children" at Delano Park. We have had 2 playdates there this week and love it!!

Mallary speaks just a few words, but besides Hey, Dada, Eat and Boo (as in peek a boo) she has now started saying "Cheese" She will walk around with the camera going cheese, cheese, cheese. If she sees the camera out she will stop, pose and say cheese. Too Cute!

Another Mallary Funny - the other day I caught her going out the door carrying my car keys like she was leaving. I was so curious where she was going!

Today was Gracie's last day of school for the actual school year. We had a luau party complete with a cookie cake, fruit, drinks in tiki cups and leis! She will join her friends for 2 mornings a week this summer to keep her busy but we will enjoy our week off next week with some special playdates to help pass the days.

This was the best Group Pic
of her friends Reece and Mary Emma
(this was their attempt to get posed)

We love little Vivian!

Mother's Day!

My mother's day was simply fabulous!!! We had a wonderful day that started with church, then lunch and then the opening of the new children's playground that jr. league helped with and then the butterfly release sponsored by Carnegie.

Friday at Gracie's school, Mallary and I got to join her for "Muffins with Mom". We had a great little breakfast and she made me a sweet little bag with her handprints on it. I loved it! She and Mallary (and Daddy) also got me a few more surprises for Sunday too!

We went Camping.

Whew...a few seconds to catch up. We have been on the go for weeks, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. After this coming Saturday morning's Bag Lady Brunch - I have nothing, I repeat nothing major going on! (for awhile that is....)

Anyways, Gracie has been asking to go camping. Ugh. Her daddy really wanted to follow through with this. Her mommy did not.

We went camping.

We left Friday afternoon for the Bankhead Forest to a little camp ground complete with a little lake and a nice new pier, camp sites for tent camping, and clean potties believe it or not. This mommy was not going camping without that!

Friday afternoon, we went fishing, kayaking, on a walk and cooked dinner on the campfire. Gracie caught her first fish!! Mallary walked all over the place and had fun. The girls went to sleep in the tent just fine. I, on the other hand, did not do well on the ground.

We had breakfast and packed up just as the rain came in. Overall - not too bad for a once a year deal. I liked the day trips out there better!

The Strawberry Farm

Did the title bring back the memories of this post from last year?

Wednesday night while waking up in the middle of the night to turn the TV off - I caught a commercial for a strawberry farm close to Huntsville. I made a mental note of the farm name and drifted off. When I woke up Thursday morning - I actually remembered the commercial, googled the farm and found it right away. I called it at 9 when they opened and they said they had plenty of berries to pick. We loaded up and drove an hour away not knowing what I was going to find.

The farm was lovely. The strawberry fields were nicely maintained. They had several greenhouses with beautiful baskets of flowers and overall, a super nice place. The girls and I grabbed our buckets and starting picking the best strawberries I have ever had. You could smell strawberries when we got out of the car. They were red and juicy and delicious!

We came home and made delicious strawberry pie to go with our dinner and then 2 more for MeMe and Chief and Alan's office.

It was a wonderful morning!
Getting ready to fill her bucket

No outing is complete without having some cookies and lemonade
These are some of our berries, washed and ready for pie!

Delicious Strawberry Pie!! Yummy!

Choir

On April 22nd, Gracie had her spring choir concert. She got to wear her little cherub robe and looked so cute. At the Christmas show - she was determined not to sing. This was NOT the case for the Spring performance. She sang loud - very LOUD! It was hilarious. She knew her words (although she was occasionally fast in some verses) and she provided great entertainment for all. The sang 3 songs and she had so much fun.

(The pictures are bad - the lighting is terrible in the church for these types of events and I am not camera savvy enough to know how to get the settings just right) She is on the 2nd row up on the end left. They are better if you don't click on them to look at them bigger.

This past Wednesday night was the end of year party for choir. They played games, sang songs, watched movies and had ice cream sundaes. Mrs. Suzanne was sweet to share the pictures from that night. Apparently Gracie really enjoyed her ice cream....

By the way, there were no other pictures of other children doing this. Just mine....
